Hi! I'm Mike Wilson, a designer and aspiring writer living in Iron Station, North Carolina. I specialize in creative, user-centered design and XHTML/CSS development. I have an affinity for branding, icon design, and for creating Websites people love to use. I occasionally blog my experiences and I dabble in photography. Wootadoo is my portfolio.
What my clients say:
“Mike has an exceptional understanding of how customers think. I enjoy working with him, and appreciate his creativity.” – Jim Hinson, Product Manager – IQMax, Inc.
Complete RV
What I did:
Complete RV is a family-owned RV repair and service center and parts supplier located in Denver, NC. Owners Kevin and Maria Dunn have been repairing and servicing RVs locally for over 30 years. They needed a Website that sent a clear message to their customers - "We are experienced, family owned, reliable, and provide quality, priority RV service, no matter when or where you purchased your RV." My designs and XHTML/CSS coding created a site that boldly features their customer service pledge, repair and customization services, photo gallery, and allows users to easily contact them to schedule service. The site features a Wordpress content management system including complete photo gallery and album management.
National Loan Recovery
What I did:
For the average person, including yours truly, the mortgage modification and foreclosure prevention process is confusing - on a good day. It's also hard to get your voice heard on your own. That's where National Loan Recovery comes in. NLR is an attorney based firm committed to assisting homeowners who are struggling to make their mortgage payments. They help you keep your home at a price you can afford. I developed a Website that clearly and simply presented the issue, the homeowner's options, and NLR's roll as the homeowner's guide through the legal mumbo-jumbo. The site also features a full video and news blog and is built on Wordpress CMS.
IQMax
What I did:
IQMax builds enterprise level mobile healthcare software solutions for hospitals and clinics. They've taken routine tasks such as dictation and billing and moved them to a web-based interface that users can access from virtually any device with an Internet connection. When I was approached to build the new IQMax.com, I started with a visual re-branding and updated logo which was used for the website, presentations, newsletters, and other print collateral. The website provides individual segments of their diverse customer base with a clear value proposition and information regarding specific applications. The site also features a full video and news blog and is built on Wordpress CMS, which allows the client to update the site on their own.
CornerStone Ear, Nose & Throat
What I did:
CornerStone ENT is an ear, nose, and throat clinic with locations in Charlotte, NC and Monroe, NC. They specalize in the treatment of ear and sinus disorders and hearing loss. I was approached to build a series of secure, online patient medical history and personal information forms that would integrate into their existing website. After working with them on that project, I was asked to re-envision their entire website, making it more informative, easier to use, easier to find in the major search engines, more attractive, and easier to update and maintain. My designs also included the addition of a full featured blog built using Wordpress CMS.
Brian & Kayla Get Married
What I did:
When Brian and Kayla, long time friends of the family, announced their engagement, I immediately suggested we put together a nice Website with all the wedding plan information so guests would have a place to have questions answered quickly and an alternative means to RSVP easily. The result was a design that captured the spirit of both Brian and Kayla and the happiness and the joy of their upcoming nuptials. The site was a great success and many of the guests took advantage of the RSVP form as well as the menu and direction information.
